January 1997 - Occupied Japan for Collectors paperback by Florence Archambault (Author), publisher: Schiffer Publishing
About the Author
Florence Archambault was the founder of The Occupied Japan Club. Shared her personal experience and knowledge as a collector, she helped others to identify the figurines, dishware, cameras, planters, sewing
items, toys, dolls, vases, lamps, planters, as well as other items.

|
During the occupation of Japan between 1945 and 1952, a world market for small and inexpensive goods was correctly identified as a starting point for rebuilding the Japanese economy.
This new book is filled with thousands of once-familiar items of ceramic, paper, glass, celluloid, wood, and papier-mache which were marked Made in Occupied Japan, and only shipped to the United States and the United Kingdom. As part of the Japan and America agreement, they were not to be sold in Japan.
Her book presents over 400 color photographs of OJ items, shows 133 different manufacturers' marks, and includes a value guide.
She collaborated from her home in Newport RI with Jane and Paul Bolbat which included many pieces from their collection in the book. For a full and comprehensive review of their collection, please check out The Aris Collection on this Website.
